A business breakfast – CAFFÈ DI RIPETTA
Starting the day at Caffè di Ripetta gives a special charge: an American coffee, a slice of cake, and the press review. Surrounded by a Mediterranean garden with unusual fragrances for a gem set in the ancient heart of Rome, it is located in a noble 17th-century residence. Fine-colored armchairs and draperies, surrounded by works of art, from the kitchen churn out delicacies and courtesy that put one in a good mood.
A lunch with a formal client – AL MORO
Since 1923 “the” Trattoria in Rome has offered Roman cuisine at its finest. Three exquisitely classic rooms, fresh roses in ceramic jugs on the tables, and all the Rome (and beyond) that counts: politicians, bankers, industrialists, actors, and film producers are the regulars of this unique place. Not to be missed.
A trendy aperitif – STRAVINSKIJ BAR-HOTEL DE RUSSIE
Magnificent location, magnificent garden, exquisite drinks: what more could you want after a day of work than to take refuge in this splendid venue? Relaxing surrounded by a lush Italian garden is the equivalent of setting off on vacation, even if you’re just a stone’s throw from the Spanish Steps and the hustle and bustle of the famous luxury shopping streets. Ideal for a business aperitif or in the company of friends.
An hour alone in a beautiful place – LIQUID GARDEN
By the side of a pool in the middle of the Janiculum! Located inside the beautiful Villa Agrippina, with the Dome less than a kilometer away, it is a peaceful oasis that helps recharge your batteries. You can drink a centrifuge while flipping through a newspaper or grab a bite to eat. It is one of the most pleasant places to retreat to for a bit of tranquility.
A relaxing lunch – ROSCIOLI SALUMERIA WITH KITCHEN
The Roscioli family is a city institution: bakers since 1870, then “pizzicagnoli,” then great masters of serving traditional dishes in a simple, relaxed atmosphere with an extensive wine cellar. Seemingly simple eating that hides great mastery and absolute attention to the best raw materials chosen with maniacal care. If all the delicatessens in Italy were like this…
Informal meeting places – BAR LOUNGE LOCARNO
A small and refined hotel established around 1920 and recently renovated, it has always been the place for informal but chic meetings. The Lounge bar menu allows you to have a great snack or drink perfectly mixed cocktails both inside and outdoors under a beautiful wisteria that, with its colors, in spring, gives an additional great pleasure.
A dinner to intrigue – ZUMA PALAZZO FENDI
In the world, “Zuma” means contemporary Japanese haute cuisine. In Rome, of course, it cannot just mean all that: the eternal city (and the Fendi sisters) “give” this restaurant a magnificent location and terrace. Rainer Becker’s “izakaya” cuisine leaves no room for doubt and always surprises his guests with combinations that are sometimes daring but never banal or casual. Roman and international clientele.
The latest trendy “place” – CAVIAR KASPIA PALACE RHINOCEROS
Caviar Kaspia means, of course, to enjoy caviar in all its variations. But if prices are often “alarming in French locations,” in this Roman declination, things change a bit. A menu full of surprises and flavors, obviously with King Caviar being the star, but also with excellent selections of salmon and other delicacies; try the caviar potatoes and caviar spaghetti, a tribute to Maestro Gualtiero Marchesi.
A Gourmet Dinner – THE PERGOLA CAVALIERI WALDORF ASTORIA
The latest King of Rome has an un-Roman name: Heinz Beck. This very gracious and shy German-born gentleman has been directing this urban monument to Haute Cuisine with absolute mastery for nearly 25 years. The first time let yourself be guided by the tasting menu, whose perfection is complete and indescribable. Some numbers: 3 Michelin stars; 45 variations of mineral water; 60,000 bottles of wine.
The “place to be and be seen” – SALON 42
A living room, indeed. Excellent in the late afternoon after a busy work day with a good drink as a company; young, multicultural, elegant clientele. Like at home, they have sunk into comfortable sofas and armchairs, drinking an excellent cocktail. Salotto 42 is an atypical bar-restaurant with a very international taste while being in one of the most beautiful and ancient squares in Rome, in front of a simply wonderful Roman-era colonnade.
