The “Best Managed Company Award” recognizes Italian companies that have excelled in strategy, skills and innovation, commitment and corporate culture, governance and performance measurement, sustainability, supply chain, and internationalization. Deloitte Private instituted it, and the Sanlorenzo Yacht Group – a jewel of Italian luxury, sustainable and innovative yachting – won it for the fifth consecutive year.
Commented Cavalier Massimo Perotti, president, and CEO of Sanlorenzo, “It is an honor to receive this award for the fifth consecutive year, which, in addition to the management, should be extended to the work of all the women and men of the group who chorally enabled us to close the first six months of 2022 with excellent results as well, along with a robust order book that supports double-digit growth forecasts also in 2023. Our positioning as a luxury maison in yachting results from a precise decade-long strategy based on the guidelines of art, design, and innovation in tradition. For the future, we have just announced the new drivers for growth, summarized in the “Road to 2030″ vision: sustainability and technology, services, and supply chain are now the key themes for development in the medium to long term.”
A jury of experts awarded the prize: Fabio Antoldi, full professor of Business Strategy at ALTIS Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore; Renato Goretta, member of the National President’s Council of Small Industry of Confindustria; and Marta Testi, CEO of Elite-Euronext. The award ceremony was held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Palazzo Mezzanotte, headquarters of Borsa Italiana-Euronext.
Sanlorenzo, founded in 1958 in Limite sull’Arno (FI), is a world-leading luxury yachting company that produces “tailor-made” yachts and superyachts customized for each client, characterized by a distinctive and timeless design. In 2005, when the company had a turnover of about 45 million euros, Massimo Perotti took over most of the company to guide its growth and development in international markets.
Today, with net revenues for 2021 of 586 million euros, production is developed in four shipyards: La Spezia, Ameglia (SP), Viareggio (LU), and Massa, synergistically and strategically located in the heart of the Italian nautical district. The business is divided into three business units: Yachts (in composite between 24 and 38 meters), Superyachts (in aluminum and steel between 40 and 72 meters), and Bluegame (sport utility yachts in composite between 13 and 23 meters). The group employs more than 680 people and cooperates with a network of thousands of skilled craft companies.
“Congratulations to Sanlorenzo for this important recognition,” said Ernesto Lanzillo, Deloitte partner and Deloitte private leader, and Andrea Restelli, Deloitte partner and BMC manager for Italy. “This edition, like the one in 2021, took place in a difficult context, marked not only by the continuing effects of the pandemic but also by the eruption of a war scenario that has had heavy repercussions on companies: from supply chain disruptions to the price of raw materials, from the energy crisis to the food crisis, with inflation rates reaching record levels. Even in this challenging context, Sanlorenzo has continued to grow, demonstrating adaptability and accelerating innovation, testifying to the strength and great potential of Made in Italy entrepreneurship.”
